Hello everyone,
This phase was honestly a mix of challenging and interesting
at the same time. At first, Excel felt kind of confusing, especially when
things didn’t work the way I expected. But I think I handled it well because I
didn’t just give up, I kept trying, messing up, and figuring it out.
The A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer was one of those
assignments where you can’t just rush through it. It made me slow down and understand
what I was doing instead of just clicking around. It was a bit stressful, but
at the same time, I feel like I learned way more because of that.
For Chapter 5.9.2, Excel Tables actually surprised me. I
didn’t think something that simple could make such a big difference. Before
this, I was just typing data into random cells, but using tables makes
everything feel more organized and cleaner. It just makes everything less messy
and more professional. So, I use it in my A6 Spreadsheet Analysis to give it a
more professional appearance.
Outside of class, this is something I can use in real life, like
budgeting, tracking expenses, or even organizing things for school. Since I’m
going into cybersecurity, I know I’ll probably deal with a lot of data, so
learning how to organize and analyze it now is going to help later. Even the
social engineering part made me think more about how people can get tricked
online, which is something I’ll keep in mind moving forward.
Going into Phase 3, I feel like this is where I need to step
it up. It’s easy to just do what’s required and move on, but I don’t really
want to stay at that level. I want to improve and get better, not just pass.
That means being more consistent and putting in extra effort even when I don’t
have to. If I stay focused and keep pushing myself, I think I can get a lot
more out of this class than I expected.
Hi Gian, I like how you pointed out A6 because I struggled with that too, even without the IF logic it still pushed me to really apply what we learned from the LabSims. It’s one thing to follow along in practice, but actually building the spreadsheet from scratch is a different level.
ReplyDeleteIn real life, these kinds of documents actually matter in an office setting, so it’s not something you can just guess through. If the data or layout is confusing, it can easily lead to mistakes or wrong decisions. That’s why I agree that information needs to be clear and easy to understand, especially in presentations.
It really shows that Excel is not just about formulas, but also about how you present the information properly.
Hey Gian, yeah, A6 was stressful for me because I felt like I kept doing something wrong, however, just as you did, I didn't give up and kept trying and trying. That's basically what this class is meant to be, to keep trying until you figure it out, which is really important in something like cybersecurity. Have a great rest of the semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Gian!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you A6 was really helpful and actually pretty fun to apply everything from LabSim. Also, the Fun with Functions assignment was definitely challenging, but it really helped me prepare for the Excel exam.
I love the title of your blog post!
ReplyDeleteI love that you slow down, understood what you were doing, didn't just give up, kept trying, messing up, and figuring things out. Gian & Table > A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer :-)
I love that you can apply what you learned from class to real life and you will keep in mind what you learned about social engineering ^_^
I love -- the most -- this the most from your post: "It’s easy to just do what’s required and move on, but I don’t really want to stay at that level. I want to improve and get better, not just pass."
Hi Gian, I tried to zoom through A6 but because of that, I had to actually go back and fix things over and over again, which wasn't worth it. The table function in Excel does make a huge different both in function and presentation wise.
ReplyDeleteA6 was actually something that I got stuck on and yes, I agree wholeheartedly that you have to slow down and actually read the whole thing before answering. It sucked that I have to change my answer so many times before I got it right since I was rushing it but overall was a good learning moment. Keep pushing through and push through the final stretch of the semester.
ReplyDeleteHi Gian. I agree that A6 was something that you needed to take your time with, I had to go back and fix a couple of things after I initially turned the assignment in. Using the concepts learned in the Excel Tables for real life situations in where you need to organize something seems very useful, I should consider doing that too.
ReplyDeleteHi Gian, I like how you connected what we are learning in class to real-life situations and your future career in cybersecurity. Skills like organizing data, budgeting, and understanding social engineering are very important and can be useful both personally and professionally. It’s great that you are already thinking about how these concepts will help you in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi Gian. Another way that using tables is useful is that it allows you to easily calculate the data within a column. It also allows you to remove a category of data that is not needed when studying.
ReplyDeleteHello Gian, Excel was definitely not something that you could click through and figure out like Word was taking time to really learn formulas and concepts was essential. A6 also made take a step back and make sure I was completely clear on what was required instead of rushing and putting down what I believed was required.
ReplyDeleteHello Gian, Phase 3 and A6 was definitely challenging especially because there were minor details that were easy to overlook. I reviewed the excel material so many times, but I was excited to pass with a fairly good grade. Having a cybersecurity job, you will probably learn so many different intricate tricks that people use to swindle money and personal information. IS101 is a really good course to start your tech journey.
ReplyDeleteHi Gian. Another way that using tables is useful is that it allows you to easily calculate the data within a column. It also allows you to hide a category of data that is not needed when studying.
ReplyDeleteHey Gian, I totally agree on how dealing with A6 it teaches you how to be patient and concise. I made multiple mistakes that were so easily overlooked yet vital to completing the assignment. Learning that in the process and thinking it over to understand was great to learn from.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it was both challenging and interesting, I also think I would add fun to that. It feels very rewarding to do the fun with functions and it was especially useful for someone who needed to fully grasp the concept of each functions. I unfortunately was unable to do all of it, but it was really fun!
ReplyDeleteHello Gian. Tables in Excel are great! I agree that they make everything feel polished and organized.
ReplyDeleteHey Gian, I'm pretty sure I was rushing but Professor Wu he let me know what was lacking and I needed some attention on this assignment, I'm glad he helped me!
ReplyDeleteHey Gian! Putting in extra effort will definitely pay off!
ReplyDeleteHello Gian. Excel will be great for cybersecurity! I'm glad you'll be able to use your certification with your career!
ReplyDeleteHi, Gian, same at first I found Excel estremetly difficulty and confusing because I thought I wouldn't learn. I didn't give up and passed the Excel exam.
